How to Replace Incandescent Bulb?

I am in the process of replacing all incandescent bulbs with LED's on my EX. I only got as far as the license plate bulbs. The other bulbs appears to be difficult to replace. These are the back up lights, the front side marker and the front turn indicator.

Any know how to replace them or have instructions?

Thanks!

Thanks but I read through that owners manual. For bulbs, besides the headlight and license plat bulb, it says to have the dealer look at it. For example, "If the Back lamp bulb (Bulb Type) (1) does not operate, have your vehicle checked by an authorized Kia dealer. I understand if it's a LED light assembly, but they recommend taking it to the dealer for an incandescent light bulb replacement? Access to the bulb sockets are not obvious. May have to take out headlight housing/panels to access the bulbs.

They don't recommend you take it to the dealer to replace the regular bulbs, there's a Type A and Type B headlight as well as tailights. Both Type A bulbs can be replaced.

To remove the bulbs in headlight:
  • Open the hood.
  • Remove the bulb socket connector by turning it counterclockwise.
  • Remove the bulb from the lamp assembly.
  • Install a new bulb.
  • Connect the bulb socket connector.

To remove the bulbs in taillight:
  • Open the liftgate.
  • Loosen the lamp assembly retaining screws with a screwdriver.
  • Remove the rear combination lamp assembly from the body of the vehicle.
  • Remove the socket from the assembly by turning the socket counterclockwise until the tabs on the socket align with the slots on the assembly.
  • Remove the bulb from the socket by pressing it in and rotating it counterclockwise until the tabs on the bulb align with the slots in the socket.
  • Insert a new bulb by inserting it into the socket and rotating it until it locks into place.
  • Install the socket in the assembly by aligning the tabs on the socket with the slots in the assembly and turning the socket clockwise.
  • Reinstall the lamp assembly to the body of the vehicle.

To remove the bulbs in license plate:
  • Using a flat-blade screwdriver, gently pry the lamp assembly from interior.
  • Remove the bulb by pulling it straight out.
  • Install a new bulb in the socket.
  • Install the lamp assembly to inte- rior.

Oh, I now see how I should be replacing the turn signal bulb! Thank you... I was looking for wires but I guess the electrical connection is made via the bulb housing & head light assembly!

Now if I can find out how to replace the backup light bulb (for a Type B rear housing) I'll be all set. I have an EX so some of the lights are already LED.

I haven't popped out the rear assembly but I assume the reverse bulb is easily replaceable once its off the car?

It’s for the side repeater lamp ( led ) I bought the lamp piece but can’t figure out how to take old one out and manual does not show it
What is a "side repeater lamp"? Are you talking about the side marker lamp on the side of the headlight or are you talking about the turn signal on the mirror?

As you know, that’s not going to be a simple bulb replacement, since those are already LED and not designed to be replaced that way. Its going to be more of a repair job.

That being said you may have to take the mirror apart to see if it can be repaired.

Go to YouTube and search for “Kia side mirror cap carbon”. While not for the telluride, you’ll get some hits for a Kia that may give you an idea of what you may need to do.
