Use Smart Phone as your car key?

I read this article that said new Kia car owners will be able to use their smart phones as car keys and start your car as well. Here is the article.

Looks like a good feature, but adoption will depend on cost (if any). Also, it requires NFC receivers in the door handles and wireless charging pad. It appears that it will not work retroactively. To my knowledge the current generation KT does not come with the needed NFC receivers....oh well, too bad!

Any update on this? Do we know if they added the NFC chip to the Telluride?
