Single Din or Double Din Head Unit?

I am looking for a head unit and got to know about the two types, single din and double din. As I don't know much about them, can anyone please tell me the difference between them?

The difference is the size.

Even if you have an LX or S, though, I can't imagine the utility of replacing the Telluride head unit. Seems like you would run into more problems than you would gain back from any potential benefit.
