seat belt indicator annoyance

Not really an issue, but an annoyance. When driving in our quiet neighborhood with no traffic, I don't always put my seat belt on. Even after putting the car back in park, the seat belt indicator chime won't stop until i buckle the seat belt or shut the car off. Am I missing something? All previous cars have the chime shut off when the car is put in park. I understand the simple answer is to buckle my seat belt, but if I'm running down the block to get the kids on/off the bus in the rain, I get lazy and prefer not to have to buckle for the short trip.

I use these because you can leave them in all the time and put the seatbelt right into them if you want to wear it.

Interesting. I don't think they're that big of an annoyance that I'll bother with it. I did notice this morning that it eventually stops when in park...took a good minute or so to stop the chime.

I figured it out. If you press the belt release button, the chime will shut off. Understandably, if you're in drive, it will immediately start chiming again once you let go of the release button.
