Can you verify that the factory badge needs removed to install this?

For anyone thinking of using the K5 Optima steering wheel badge, the factory badge must be removed and if you remove it from the front of the steering wheel with out disassembling the steering wheel/airbag you will destroy the factory badge.

the factory badge has tabs behind it that help grip the emblem to the horn button.
