Charging "whatever the market will bear," or your "supply and demand" statement has been proven, especially in the automotive industry, as being bad for long-term business. Especially in todays online virtual marketplaces. KIA can do nothing and make a few bucks today or step in an cut allocations to the shady outfits. The decision is there but so isnt where and how we spend our money. NET, This would have been KIA's opportunity to earn my business longterm but by aligning themselves with the likes of shady delaers like Quirk and Dan Obrien they will not. This isnt the first hot product to hit the market and wont be the last.
Exactly. You might as well remove every popular brand from your list. Every manufacturer will have shady dealers.

Nope, and i wouldnt consider KIA a popular brand. I drive an Mercedes at the moment and if a dealer is caught doing what these KIA dealers are doing they step in. Google it!
Mercedes is a whole other breed compared to kia, honda, dodge, Chevy, etc. Google it.

Hope its not a 2020 :) According to Consumer Reports, Mercedes-Benz ranks #21 out of 30 for reliability. Kia on the other hand, ranked #9 and Hyundai even better @ #6 :)https://www.usatoday.com/story/mone...o-reliability-study-2020-vehicles/2578463001/
On another note, Mercedes also doesn't have a demand 🤣 they always have surplus.
and the demand for KIA's line up is what? A single vehicle hey under produced to begin with doesnt meetthe threshold for demand. Perhaps rather than ROFL read up on the nonsense you spew. Also, any and i mean any outfit with a few grand can get a favorable rating in "CR".

Both Kia's new designs the stinger and telluride both had or have demand. Name one mercedes vehicle that was not a limited production that had demand. In your words, ROFL. Now please stop with your nonsense and keep this thread on topic.

The whole supply and demand resulting in overcharging will quickly self regulate. Some vehicles such as the mid engine Corvette are guaranteed collector items for low serial numbers that are fully loaded. The telluride has zero chance of ever being a collector item. Sorry, it's a great, well regarded vehicle, but it's just never going to be a collector item so the overcharging will end, probably as soon as the next cool looking, well rated 3 row SUV is announced.

I appreciate this thread because it's put me on notice to walk out at the first sign of a dealer overplaying their hand.

Concur, especially on a WannaBe luxury brand.

Beyer Kia Falls Church, VA. $5k market upcharge, + "European Protection Package" for another thousand. These two charges were on a separate dealer sticker, not in the Kia window sticker. I done know what European Protection Package is, but since I don't live in Europe, I'm not paying for their protection. Maybe an Italian Mafia mob lives in your garage to protect the vehicle!

Crown Kia in Columbus, OH is 5k over asking for S package and $7,500-$10,000 on higher trims! They straight up told us they were hoping a sucker would walk in and pay the markup...

We talked them down to MSRP on the S and needless to say, they were pretty pissy with us. Sales manager wouldn’t speak to us, even though we negotiated everything with him, and the finance guy tried to sneak in their highest warranty package (just under $2,800!).

They tried to talk us in to ordering but could not and would not guarantee anything (their words, not mine. And this includes everything from trim, configuration, color, options and even the model year!). They also told us they have customers waiting up to 6mo for an order then it would “randomly get canceled with no explanation”....

They also don’t sell Kia Care, which I found to be a little strange

We gave an honest review on the manufacturers survey, and the sales manager called my wife and essentially yelled at her for not giving them a perfect rating...will NOT be going back there

Southside Kia in Indianapolis. Every vehicle that comes off the truck gets a third brake light pulse module and door sill protection tape, for a measly $695.00. These items cost roughly $18.00. No talking them out of it, so we walked. The Southside salesman called us back apologizing, said it wasn't his policy and he would talk to the GM. Salesman calls back next day, GM says we don't have to get these items.
