Key Fobs

Hi I just bought a 2023 Telluride SX X-Pro. So far so good. I am trying to plan ahead and get a third key Fob in case one gets misplaced. Will a 2022 Telluride key fob work on a 2023. Currently 2023 fobs are only available from the dealers. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!!!

The most important thing to consider is the fact that only two fobs can be programmed to the car. So it’s probably not worth getting another unless you actually lose one, since you can’t have it on deck as a working extra. If you think you are likely to lose your fob, put an AirTag or Tile or some sort of tracker on the key ring with it. Much less expensive.

Thank you for the reply. I didn't realize that only two fobs could be programmed to a car. I have always had a third fob so if I lost one then I would have two and I could program the replacement without going to the dealer. The tracker idea is great unless I loose in the ocean or on a canoe trip! ;-) Thanks for the info.

I just bought a 2022 Telluride EX I love it Nightfall Version Black Copper. It only came with one key fob. Do I have to get one through the dealer or can a locksmith do it? I heard they are around 600.00 is that true?

Unfortunately, this vehicle is not on board programmable and requires a qualified professional to program smart key remote fobs. In the past we were able to proraam key fobs using the car. You can buy aftermarket key fobs and have a local dealer or locksmith program them. Normally, Amazon sells them as well as companies specializing in keys sells them much cheaper than dealers but there seems to be aa shortage of Telluride key Fobs currently. This would likely cost you half what the dealer will charge.

If you have digital key capability you could use your phone to lock/unlock, start etc.

Thanks for the feedback. I have had mixed results with the phone appand they will start charging me for it after a year. In some locations it doesn't seem to pick up the cellular signal even though we are hardly in a remote area. Of course, that said it is a good back-up as well as the credit card sized chip key that came with the car. Still, I would like to have a third fob but I guess that isn't going to happen.
