I came across a photo of a telluride engine partially disassembled at 10k miles. The intake valves and manifold were showing visibly thick carbon buildup, chunky stuff on the valve. This is contrary to a lot of posts here indicating it’s not a problem on newer Hyundai/Kia GDIs, but are incorrect. The problem is as bad as it ever was based on this photo and this engine needs regular valve and intake cleaning. Not enough to cause issues at that interval but if the carbon is on there too long it can’t be removed with the sprays. I’d at least try to have the dealer service every 10,000 along with my own spraying in between. I don’t own one yet hence not knowing ab the service products, but is a service available from Kia dealers and how much approx?
