Infotainment display turning green

I have a 2020 Telluride EX and have recently started experiencing issues with the infotainment display turning green. At times it will stay green all day and suddenly flip back to normal and other times it will flip back and forth intermittently. It is almost like a short in a wire but no road condition (rough or smooth), turning sheltering wheel to either side, or any other circumstance seem to have any effect on it switching between green and regular screens. I have tried resetting the system but that also doesn’t have any effect. It is very random. The system has also been updated with the latest software updates.

Unfortunately, We have not. It reverted back to normal after several days and has flipped back and forth between green screen and normal several times over the last couple of months. There seems to be no rhyme or reason behind it. I was hoping to find out something here before I took it to the dealership and they tried to take advantage of the situation.

Ours too. We are going for a diagnostic appointment on Friday, I’ll report back what they say!

Yes please let me know what they say. I’m just wondering if it is another defect in the telluride and will warrant another recall. Hours cleared up for about a month or so and now it has reverted back to either going to the green screen or the display unscrambled. It definitely seems to be something electrical, but we have yet to figure out the combination of electrical components that is causing it to go out.

I have a 2020 SX Prestige with about 86,000 miles. 2 weeks ago the touch screen started flipping back and forth between normal and green randomly. Now it prefers to stay green. Was normal this morning when I started it as I am bringing it in for appointment at Tasca Kia in Johnston, RI. I tapped the side of the screen and it immediately went to green. Service department has never seen this and I just showed them this thread. To me it feels like there is a loose connection due to how it flips back and forth. Will let you know what they diagnose

Dealership did a hard reset which cleared it up. they tried a software update and would not take it and went back to green. They said it needs a new Head Unit. Can't wait to see how much this is going to cost. Warranty is only good for 3 years/36,000 miles

This was our response back to Kia. Waiting on a reply.

Hi Kristy,

I understand that the vehicle exceeds the very limited 3 year Audio warranty. The issue is a safety issue as it affects the back up camera and this is not an isolated issue. If you care to look at the following link, you will see other customers are having the same issue. Infotainment display turning green | Kia Telluride Forum

We are not asking for a brand new replacement, but there is obviously a defect with the head unit and it is not an isolated incident. We had an issue with defective self leveling air struts in the back and now they are covered up to 150,000 miles because of it. I think this issue needs to be looked at. I took the car to the Dealership and they stated a brand new head unit is $6,385.61. We understand that the car has 80k+ miles on it and we are not asking for a brand new unit. The dealership stated that there are remanufactured head units available for $1,669.

What we are asking, is since there is an obvious defect in the quality/manufacturing of the head unit, that Kia at least cover the cost of the reman head unit.

We do not think that is asking too much

Thank you for your consideration.

Danielle
