How to diagnose Kia Telluride "Head Unit" (aka audio system) issues

I own a certified pre-owned 2022 Kia Telluride SX. Recently, the audio system is in a boot loop -- I see the Kia logo for a few seconds, then a blue screen for a half-second, and then it repeats.

I tried resetting this myself - pressing the little reset button, and even unplugging the battery for 30 mins. No luck.

So I took it to a dealership. They looked into it -- said they reset the head unit and it didn't work. They said it needs to be replaced.

This is unsatisfying to me. It seems like a software issue, not a hardware issue. Is there at least a better way to diagnose what's happening?
