This is regarding my ‘22 S AWD with now 20k miles and might be helpful for others.
1. Oil Changes
I get them done every 5k miles at the dealership and using only synthetic
With every 5k mile change I have added one can of Liqui Moly MoS2 Anti-Friction additive. (10 oz / 300ml)
Figured this would be good additional and cheap practice for extra care of the engine.
Of course, I get the dealer to go about 1/2 quart shy so I can add it and then top off rest of the way.
Since the 3.8L motor in the Telluride has solid tappets, some motors can be quite pingy, especially at startup, perhaps most/ all.
With my most recent oil change I went with Liqui Moly Cera Tec Anti-wear additive. (10 oz / 300ml)
Again, having the dealer go 1/2 quart shy.
Within about 200 miles I can notice my engine runs quieter and smoother than before!
Cera Tec can be had for under $30 a can but good news is it’s supposed to last, even thru oil changes, for up to 30k miles.
I had read about its positive effects on Ford 5.0 motors, which is what is in my Mustang, and will be adding in soon.
I highly recommend putting in this additive and being OCD Neurotic myself, I am glad I did and totally trust the German engineering behind Liqui Moly Products
now onto another suggestion…
2. Headlight assembly desiccant
After seeing elsewhere that someone pulled their headlight caps, where you access the bulbs, they noticed their desiccant inside the cap had swollen so much that it broke the cage that holds it in place.
So, I decided to check mine and sure enough they were rock hard and swollen and had warped the cages.
Only had my vehicle for about 1 1/2 yrs, from new.
I ordered replacement ones and swapped them today; fold the edges in under the center then place in the back of the cap.
Super easy and kinda cheap (~ $22) and a good maintenance move so you dont end up with moisture in your headlamps.
Again, mine is a ‘22 S so I had already upgraded to low-profile, fan cooled, LED headlight bulbs which allowed me to still retain using the desiccant.
