Today I was hit with my second notice that Extras that CAME with my SXP4WD really will cost extra, and extra, and extra!! When purchasing last year the dealer told me that the car came with Sirius Radio, and Kia's Special OVU system. A few month later Sirius informed us that our "trial" was expiring, and for a monthly payment, that service would be continued.
Today, an e-mail from Kia informed us that our use of the OVU system would shortly expire, BUT, for as much as $30.00 per month, we could continue this service.
Is this a SCAM for Kia to gain a monthly income from services that were supposed to come with original purchase??
WHAT NEXT????? A monthly fee for keeping the paint on the car??? .......a fee for the wheels being round???
Suggest that you join me and complain to Kia about these practices!!!!

I get you. It is pretty clearly drawn out on the sticker but there is NO WAY that UVO is worth that cost. I cannot even get my car to remote start from my kitchen window, with the car 10 feet away. I have tried it with wifi on/off and cell data on/off. I did just download an update from 6.28 and have yet to try it.

But you knew that right? It's been posted on this forum since last year. Yup it sucks, I understand. I'm in the same boat since April because I didn't renew UVO cause it's a rip off. I read some people received discounted offers, but nothing for me....

Proximity to the KT has nothing to do with it. The KT connects to Verizon LTE. You can be thousands of miles away and still be able to remotely start/unlock-lock/temperature control as long as your phone has a good data connection and your KT is located in an area with good Verizon coverage.

If your home has poor Verizon coverage, your KT will not receive the command to start the engine. However, even if you have good connections, it tends to be slow....well at least the last time I was able to use it!

Thx. I get that proximity has nothing to do with it, I was just being sarcastic in that I can't get the damned app to work standing in front of it. Funny, I have full LTE on Verizon and it is still as slow as molasses. thx!

Yeah, it was slow for me as well. When I had the complimentary UVO it took ~30-45 seconds. I mostly used UVO for remote start, so $300/year it isn't worth it....They should have an ala cart option for $2.95/month for remote start! Since they don't, I'll just end up getting a regular regular start.

When my 1 year trial of ovo ran out in March , I asked Kia to give me more free time since it was so buggy at first. Kias sticker clearly marked it was only for 1 year. They gave me a few months. Ive heard some people getting another year free. Also the middle tier that includes remote start is $199 a year with the kia coupon (just ask). Not horribly price imho....

Also no cars come with free sirius for life.... your dealer lied. Well I think some high end bmws did many many years ago.. The car should have a had a card that said 3 months free. Sirius is $5 a month / $60 a year and well worth it.

I personally don't think Sirius is worth the money - at least it isn't in Canada. I'm perfectly happy with Amazon Music through Amazon Prime in the car. I subscribe to Prime anyway so it's a bonus. The UVO thing is cool but waaaaaay to slow to be worth paying for it in my opinion.
