Does anyone know what the differences are between the Eco, Comfort, and Sport modes in the custom mode for the AWD system specifically? Are there certain modes that put more power towards the rear wheels?
There is a traction gauge In the center cluster if you have sx prestige awd. It shows where the power is going.
You can get power to all wheels in any mode, in sport mode with traction control off I can tell you that the traction gauge shows a 20/80ish split front to rear and is a lot of fun.
I can’t tell you what comfort mode does with exception of adjusting the steering and throttle response.

I think I read that the AWD system can send up to 35% of it’s power to the rear wheels in Comfort and Eco modes. It can send 50% in Sport and Snow modes.

Just keep hitting the settings button on right side of your steering wheel. I think the AWD menu is past the directional gauge. If I remember correctly, the AWD is in the same row as the tire pressure gauge and maybe one or two other things.
If you put the IC display on the setting where it displays wheel distribution, I do see occasional rear wheel activity when in Eco, but agree the vehicle is much more FWD biased in that mode.
I think that is how it used to work. I know for a fact it does not work this way now.
During the test drive, I put it into eco mode and it put power into the front wheels but still delivered power to the rear. During start it delivered a lot of power to the rear.
Never heard of sand and mud mode. Can you post pictures of the mode selector? There is 4 wheel lock that will deliver even power to all four wheels under 25mph.
