I've compared 3 LED bulbs Zdatts, Sealight and TIANFUYAO 9005 (utmeep recommended https://www.kiatelluride.org/threads/headlight-led-upgrade.427/page-5 )

Zdatts: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01JS7L4R8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Sealight: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HCZ4VCH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
TIANFUYAO: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07N4K1L7G/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I like the TIAFUYAO the best. I agree with utmeep, the dark spot in the picture is not that noticeable in real life. I just ordered another set to be used as a spare!
Are you still using the TIANFUYAO? any problems with heating or anything?

You mean like this?

Easy

1) Remove the screw on the housing.
2) Pull down on the side with the screw hole. A paper clip or something in the hole will help since it’s in there a little tight. The other side has a tab so you can't just pull the entire housing off. You have to kinda slide it off.
3) Once the housing is removed, twist the socket to free it from the housing (note the wire is kinda short so be careful not to damage the wire).
4) Pull the light bulb from the socket and replace it with a W5W LED bulb
5) Reverse the process
6) Repeat the process on the other bulb.
Great job. This turned out nice!

What W5W LED bulb did you end up going with?

How are the TIAFUYAO working for you now? Do you still recommend them?

I ordered from Amazon. It was from a company called PrimeLED. I would give you the link, but they apparent don't sell it any longer. The link just goes to another bulb sold by them.

I am testing HID now, but may eventually go back to LED.
Thanks for the reply.

The HID certainly sounds promising. My main concern with it is just having the drill to make it fit properly and then our local Kia is threatening that it'll void the warranty with that specific modification.

So I'm trying to try out some LED options to avoid such issues. Sadly, it seems like there are some major quality control issues depending on which brand you go with.

I used superbrightleds.com in my Escape. They were designed to have the placement of the LEDs mimic the filaments in the halogen bulbs and come with a lifetime warranty... the pattern was perfect duplication of halogen with the bright white light that provided much better vision.

Link to 9005 version of what I used in my Escape (which was dual element H13)
https://www.superbrightleds.com/cat...n-kits/filter/Stock_Bulb_Number,9005,197,8886:

Can't be certain - but diagram looks like there'd be enough room for these bulbs. They have a 30 day return if not.

No affiliation with SBL - just have used and liked their products for some time.

Those look like some great options.

I picked up the following on a prime sell yesterday and am curious if they'll work:

9005 LED Headlight Bulbs Mini Sized CanBus Ready 80W 16,000LM/Pair, AUXITO 9005 (HB3) Headlight LED Bulb Conversion Kit, 6500K Xenon White, Pack of 2 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07WCSJQYC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_FU8YDb4TH6MRS

If these don't work out then I think I'll give SBL a try.

Thank you for the recommendation. I'd assume between the non-polarity option would be the preferred one?

Not sure what 'non-polarity option' actually means in this application since the connector is going to be only a one way fit...

Thought I had posted the link to the specific SBL bulb I recommend...
https://www.superbrightleds.com/mor...th-internal-drivers-4000-lumensset/3912/8028/

The other thing I like about the SBL is 'fanless' - one less thing to fail... and of course, the lifetime warranty... the Amazon bulb (at the same price as SBL) has a fan and couldn't find a stated warranty...

Thanks for the clarification. For some reason the first option went to all search results for 9005 rather than the one you recommended. I'll definitely be checking it out.

Thanks again.

For all those that added LEDs to the tail lights, I was smooth sailing for a while but now I'm getting error on the dash. Telling me brake light issue... it's almost like it has a false contact, the bulb was out and I just needed to wiggle it a bit, and started working. But I think the vibrations loosen them??
