Is maintainance milestone services requirement for warranty coverage? And why do we need to change climate control air filter at ever 7500miles? Shouldn't it be as needed?
Generally its not require because you can do it outside the dealer. Changing the cabin filter at 7500 is just a recommendation since some people might not even use the A/C.

Kia Optima forum's security guy advised, "Just continue to change your oil and filters when required and save any major services for 30K miles. These 7500 mile and 15k mile services are only a way for your dealer to make huge profits. They are totally unnecessary and a big waste of your hard earned money!"

So what's everyone's thoughts on this? Should we only observe major services at 30K mile intervals?

The cabin filter is so cheap and you can easily do it yourself it's not worth bringing to the dealer, it'll take you less than 15 minutes to do.

The Telluride requires Fuel Additives? Is that because it has a direct injection engine?
Only if you're not using a Top Tier gasoline that Kia would recommend you use a detergent additive, most of the time you probably are using the right gas.

"If TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline is not available, one bottle of additive is recommended. Additives are available from your Authorize Kia dealer along with information on how to use them. Do not mix other additives."

That makes sense. I found a related Consumer Reports article ...Top Tier Gasoline Worth the Extra Price

I didn't even know that Top Tier gas existed or was recommended. Of course the three gas stations I usually go to aren't on the list. Has anyone used not top tier and top tier for a comparison. Also, anyone using higher octane instead of 87 and notice a difference?
EDIT: I did read the article, I meant in terms of performance and MPG.

What gas do you use? Most gas in this country and canada is top tier.

Higher octane is pointless.

Sam's Club, Sheetz and GetGo (affiliated with local grocery store).
They are not license to display the top tier logo. I would not use them, it could get into some serous problems later.

I would also contact the store themselves asking who the supplier is. Most suppliers will not be able to have non top tier and top tier. They will be only top tier, but the station did not buy the license to display it. So you may get top tier with out them able to display it.

But with out confirming you are getting top tier stop using it.

@drizzt It depends, does the dealer require all services be performed in order for the warranty to stick?? Also I read for GDI engines you may want to do oil changes earlier then scheduled. I wonder if 7500 miles is too far out for optimal performance.

Hello, unless I am missing something I don't see anywhere in the maintenance schedules where they check and clean the valves for oil/carbon buildup. Does the avg consumer know this? And if you don't do it and something happens to the engine, is Kia going to honor the warranty or assume you should have had it cleaned off?? Looks like any company that offers GDI engines should inspect the valves.
